Going back to Kuching brings back old memory. I lived in Kuching for almost 2 years in year 1988 till 1989. Eventhough I was only 4 going 5 years old, I still remember some of the places like the airport, Seberkas, Sarawak Plaza, Pasar Satok, my Sinaran Kidergarten (where I once peed in the class), the banglo we lived at Jalan Batu Bata. I love Kuching..

Anyway, going back to the office on Friday, I was greeted by a new PTD officer. She looks young and the bubbly type of girl. She approached me at my place for a proper introduction. When she..
The writing was interrupted by the alarm sound. Closed IE, packed my handbag and headed out. Only to be told that it was a false alarm. Someone in the library did something that triggered the alarm. Sia2 aku panic ingat ade gegaran seperti yang berlaku hujung tahun 2007.

She introduced herself and so did I. N her next sentence,
Nak panggil ape eh? Kak Suraya?
I was speechless for a moment because never in my life someone suggested to call me that.
Seeing my blank face, she asked how old I am.
Baru 25 tau. Panggil nama jer. Nak panggil Su boleh, Yaya pun boleh.
You know what I did when she left? I checked my face at the mirror for wrinkles and the clothes I wore. Do I really looked old?
She graduated from a 4-year-degree course last year, she couldn't be younger than 23. Hell I am only 2 years older. Well, I noticed that she calls everyone by the name Kak except me. When she introduced herself to Lin last Monday, she addressed Lin as Kak too and Lin commented,
Ko ni umur bape, aku ni sensitif bab panggil "Kak" nih tau.
She smiled sheepishly telling she is 23 years old.
Anyway, I remember what Yati told me when I first came to this Dept,
If sama level 41 or lower, umur 40 tahun lebih je panggil Kak. Tapi itu pun tengok jugak, kadang2 orang tak suke. If selevel 41, umur lebih kurang, panggil nama je. If die announce herself as Kak, baru kite pun gune Kak.
Hmm, communication skills..

aku yang lebih-lebih kurang je aku panggil nama. dan aku selalu bahasakan mala-dan nama orang itu. dengan org2 senior, sir atau ma'am. selamat wei kalau guna english. hahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteA'ah, gune English memang selamat.
ReplyDeleteIf senior perempuan, payah plak nak gune title Cik or Puan. Walaupun Puan tu formal, sesetengah tu tak suka plak. macam2 pe'el ;)
Ala ciannya cik Yaya ni. Nasib baik dia panggil kak. Kalo panggil auntie lg haru tau :)
ReplyDeletehahaha terus check wrinkles yek? hahaha..
ReplyDeleteHadi: Die panggil auntie memang aku sound direct..hehehe
ReplyDeleteKuntum: Hehehe, check wrinkles n eyebag..
