Hmm, my brother gets 10As and he didn't get the scholarship. He did quite good in his curriculum compare to those I know of that managed to get the scholarship. Therefore, I think it's more than just nerd looking kids with good grades when choosing a scholar.
I read the above entry and all those comments given below. Scary mary when they are thinking that way of you-know-what.. "Others" are thinking lowly of "us" and yet we are securing our place as champions of corruption, samseng jalanan, night clubbers, drug addicts/dealers, sex offences...
It's time to wake up people..
maybe yang 6A1s tuh in terms of school activities dia lebih bagus kut? i would choose someone as like that rather than all straight a's. we need balanced people. not nerds.

I got friends who are gifted, straight As kind of students. sent to overseas with hope they can be the best think tank for the country. deym, it made us the local grad (above 8 aggregat ni) felt so timid and weak.

turned out that they kinda reluctant to join us. They are the ones who feel timid and weak now due to existing path of career. ada yg malu nak mengaku full time housewife, ada yg pegawai sistem maklumat jer, mcm mcm jer alasan.
One ended up in asylum. Mental prob pun ada. dunno what happened to the rest.
I am not memperkecil-kecilkan these people, but it shows if we really want to invest in people, we need the all rounders, not straight A students. The one who can cope with failure or pressure. The one who can motivate people and herself/himself.

ReplyDeleteTherefore, if JPA is in the right stand, they should come out with reasons and justifications on how the scholars were selected. Rather than leaving all these unsatisfied people making wrong assumption
The selected ones may not be as excellent as the 14 1As, 18 1As students but maybe they come from a very poor family, poor accommodation but still managed to obtain good grades without having the help from tuition classes. These are the tough lot and they are the ones that should be considered to get sponsored.
Tapi if ade kes JPA gave sponsorship to those anak orang kaya disebabkan orang dalam, aku tak puas hati jugak la kan. Orang kaya2 ni duitnye macam tak pernah cukup eh?
