1 more month..

Collected my wedding invitation card last Saturday and I'm already started on my list. Thanx to Hadi, we went further up along Jalan Pudu, into Jalan Brunei and there are so many printing shops there. We went to some of the shops and finally we, err, I fall in love with this card that has my favourite flower, lily embosed on the front cover.

To my dear fellow blogmates, would you kindly email me your current home address. If I have the time, I may send to you personally but if I don't, Mr.Postman will have to do it for me. My email is surayasukeri@yahoo.co.uk.

Only this time

I've booked my ticket to Langkawi 2months ago and I've told my colleague about it and my plan to take leave on Monday. Since there are only the 2 of us, one needs to be at the office to assist my boss if one is one leave. Too bad, she suddenly applied for leave on the day I was planned to take leave. My mistake because I submitted my application after her and she didn't inform me about her taking leave until my boss called to inform me.

Luckily my flight is at 10am on Monday. Mr.Joe will pick us up at KLIA and I'll be heading to the office later. I've told my boss that I'll come in a bit late. Well, it's a bit funny eh. It's like this office is owned by me. Suka suki nak masuk pukul bape. Minta ampun banyak2. Up to date 3rd July 2009, I never take any EL or MC. If I have an appointment at the hospital, I'll take leave because I know it'll take at least half a day and I don't think it's fair to punch in-out but spent the whole day at the hospital.

Yey, tomorrow is Saturday again ;)

Wish everyday is weekend day

Saturday was pretty productive. Went for Senam Seni at Dataran Merdeka with Mr.Joe in the morning. Then later fetched Mr.Joe at his house heading to Jalan TAR to take our measurements for the wedding suits and went to Habib to resize Mr.Joe's ring.

As for Sunday, instead of going to Hazli's wedding, I spent my time lazying on my bed with the laptop doing online window shopping and later watched The Girl Next Door, Prom Night and The Accidental Husband. The Girl Next Door is kinda creative, Prom Night is stupid and The Accidental Husband is too predictable. Mr.Joe was not answering my smses, he must have been busy or asleep or he needed a time out, err, from me..hehe.. I have been very clingy lately.

Next weekend, I'll be heading to Langkawi with Nonie. This is my first single short vacation trip without the family. Bought the ticket when the mind wasn't thinking right. I was feeling rather down that day. Anyway, I was kinda excited. But strictly no sunbathing. I don't need tanned, scaly skin on my wedding day, do I?

Now you see me, next you wont..

MJ is dead. I wasn't a big fan of his but I grew up listening to his songs and watching his videoclips. He will be missed.

I started to think that death is so near to us. God can take my life even before my finger manage to strike a key on the keyboard if He wants to.

Islam asks it's people to think about death every single second. And when I'm mad or angry of someone especially the loved ones, I started to think, what if I were never gonna see them again the next moment I blinked my eyes. What if I never had the chance to say I Love You one last time. But if I was hurt by someone, I couldn't help myself from thinking that if I were to die now, I kinda hope he/she will feel remorseful for the rest of his/her life for hurting me and never had the chance to say sorry. Yes, evil, I know..

I read in Cleo mag that men hate when women ask them, "How would you feel if today is the last time seeing me alive" Hell they wouldn't want to think about it at all. Men's thinking is more simple than women. "What's in the present, I'll deal it with but for something in the future, I'll deal with it when it happens, IF it happens" Well, I have plenty of experiences being scolded for saying the word DEATH.

When saying about death or separation, it's not that we want it to happen. We just don't want to think too much what to do next when it actually happens. Most women will always think of Plan B If Plan A went wrong and some men called them pessimistic. And I was always being called that.

Well, I was born to be independent. Women should be able to do things men can do. Women should have education, a secure job, savings, a car, a house and sometimes be as bold as men. Women shouldn't depend solely on her men. Yes, true he was the man you're so madly in love when you got married last time but you'll never know what will happen when you turn fat, ugly and bitter 20 years from now with 4 kids who are still in school. If you have savings, education/job, you can still survive on your two feet eventhough your husband is getting married to a lady 15years younger.

Anyway, I always believe that when there's no death or separation, one can never know the meaning of having someone by his/her side. We have to think about being separated in order to appreciate the loved ones. But many of us tend to take things for granted until it's already too late.

Everytime the car drive pass by my accident place every day, I kept reminding myself how I nearly died that day. God has given me another chance to be with my loved ones and I really2 appreciate it. I wish to be with my family and Mr.Joe every second of my life. Been able to hug and kiss my mom, having to hear Mr.Joe's laugh and see his twinkling brown eyes, priceless..

The word I Miss You is not only for the one you hardly see. Uttering those 3 words to the person you don't see for 3 hours may sound very cheesy but it does create a smile.

~Words can be very simple but it also manage to give a very deep impact without you knowing it.

The one that really cares..

There is no one in this world born with happy, cheery mood every second of his life.

Even the clowns. And people always say, the one who really cares for you is the one who stays and frequently checks on your condition every couple of hours just to make sure you need a hug or anything else when you turned sour or when you said "Leave me alone".

But some just remained for the sake of happy times and left when you were no longer fun to be with leaving message such as, "Your mood aren't good, I'll leave you alone" therefore he/she wont deal with your grumpiness and ended-up quarreling over a tiniest thing..

How sad is that..

1 Month, 2 Weeks and 3 Days to go

Yeah, 1 Month, 2 Weeks and 3 Days to go and this morning was a disaster. I have finished with my beading project on my nikah dress last night. So happy with the outcome, I decided to wash it before keeping it in the wardrobe. I didn't use any corrosive washing soap, just hair shampoo but I freaked out when I saw the shiny twinkling powdery thing on the surface of the last rinsed water.

I checked on the beads, OMG, OMG, OMG!!! The beads are no longer silvery or gold in colour. Tears falling down the cheeks.. I even pinched my cheeks to see whether I'm dreaming. The 4-month-job flushes down the drain, just like that. It's either the shop is selling fake miyuki beads or the dress was exposed to too much sunlight.

Then I checked on the Miyuki website, there are sooooooooo many type of beads with different durability. Mine must have had the weakest durability.

I told Mr.Joe and he said it's fated and don't be too sad about it. Nothing can be done to undo the whole thing. I said I want to redo the whole thing. He said as long as I'm happy, do it then. Then I replied saying I'm not happy redoing the whole thing. Mr.Joe said back, don't do it if I'm not happy. I continued saying I won't be happy either if I didn't do it because the dress will look shabby. Mr.Joe was confused and he said nothing more. hehe

Anyway, the incident happened today made me think on how I actually wanted him to react on that matter. Then I remember the 1st few chapters of Men Are From Mars and Women Are From Venus when the women actually want to be pitied when they are telling their partners their problems. Women do not want solutions neither do they want a fixing plan.

I want empathy and nurturing when bad things happened to me. I feel loved by the one that cares. I don't mind people saying, "That's so sad, I pity you". "If that ever happened to me..oh, I don't want to think about it." "Here, let me give you a hug". Ok, that's me. But men are totally different. When bad things happened to their friends they would just say, "You'll get through with it" and the next thing is, they are talking about sports.

I just want to lie down. I wish I have my car now and drive to nowhere while listening to the music. I miss my Kenari. I hope Bro Pian is taking good care of her.

Akhir zaman

Pagi ni, kalau Mr.Joe tak kejutkan, konfem saya EL sebab bangun lewat.

Sampai di ofis masih lagi mamai plus sakit perut. Ingat nak pergi toilet, tapi bukak FB dulu. Bukak page kawan, then bukak page gefren die sebab nak tengok gamba gefren die. Kawan saya ini Indian kacuk Serani. Saya tengok gefren macam Melayu. Nama depan Melayu, nama kedua ade nama ala2 orang puteh (sebut dengan slang). Okeylah, orang Sabah or Sarawak or Serani macam die kot. Saya browse ke bawah lagi, Astaghfirullah, orang Melayu rupenye....

Terbukak luas mata sepet saya yang hampir2 tutup tadi. Sakit perut pun hilang. Terkejut.

Orang yang komen selepas die tu pun sama spesies. Beraninya mereka memaparkan status begini, memperlekehkan Islam kepada orang ramai.

Dunia dah menghampiri akhir zaman.

Apa patut saya buat? Kalau berlaku betul2 di depan mata saya seseorang tu mengkeji Islam, bagaimana reaksi saya agaknye? Apa patut saya balas? Dengan cara marah2? Cara lembut? Ia telah membuat saya berfikir. Ilmu agama saya masih sangat cetek. Saya perlu belajar dengan lebih dalam lagi..

Oh, my, it's Monday..

Is it only me or everyone as well feels that time is moving so fast these days.. I can't get enough of my weekend.. Sedar2 dah Isnin kembali..

Saturday was spent attending 2 weddings. 1 in Bukit Jelutong and another was just nearby to my house. Sunday was spent spring cleaning my room. Man, I never knew I have sooooo many clothes. The clothes are never outgrown because what you see now, err, I mean before DPA is what you see me 10 years ago. I packed some into a bag that I will bring to my future house which I haven't bought yet. Garu kepala tengok baju kurung yang berlambak2. Ni lepas kawin kene beli wardrobe besar if nak share dengan Mr.Joe or I have to have my own wardrobe.

Anyway, I bought a new bed for my room. Need to start decorating my room now. No longer 2 single beds dengan palang macam katil baby in my room. Hehe, it's actually a double-decker bed. I used to share my room with Sis Yanti. Need to find a new house secara serius to put the beds. Ma's house is so packed. No more empty room to put the extra beds.

And the night is spent sorting the unwanted stuff. I threw all of my undergrads note. Sedih. Keeping only the books. ader la setinggi pinggang kertas2 yang perlu dihantar ke pakcik recycle 30sen/kg. All the nicknacks given for my birthdays and etc, were dumped into the bin. I took pictures of them 1st as remembrance. Slept at 4 and now I can barely open my eyes. Luckily Mr.Joe was driving, I slept all the way to Putrajaya this morning.

I can't wait for my new bed to be delivered today. And I have a full closet of nicknacks and old stuff to be thrown. Pejam mata dan buang. Jangan ade second thoughts, nanti dah ikat dalam plastik sampah pun boleh gi korek balik.

~Nak cat bilik kaler ape eh..

Abiskan duit gaji cepat!!

Mr.Joe and I were having a good laugh seeing all these people shopping like there's no tomorrow. Body Shop Alamanda was packed with people, er, women and many were "queueing" outside the shop to have a glance of the items on sale.

My oh my..

Govt Likely To Put Cap On Number of Papers Taken For Fairer PSD Selection

PUTRAJAYA: Students sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination may not be allowed to take as many subjects as they like in future.

This is to put an end to claims on unfairness in the award of Public Service Department scholarships.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that, as things stood now, students in government schools had no limit on the number of subjects they could take, meaning that those from other schools, like fully residential ones, were “disadvantaged”.

This would be among several matters to be discussed at a special meeting next week.

Reacting to the proposals, academicians agreed that it was vital that students enjoy their teen years and not spend all their time focusing on academic success only.

They also said that for entry into public universities, it was the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia or matriculation results which mattered, not the SPM.

More about doctors being "abused"

Why treat housemen shabbily?

THERE has been so much hype on the tough life a houseman faces.

As a parent of a final-year student, l totally agree how depressing it can be for young housemen just graduated after a grueling five to six years of study – and not all are government sponsored – to be treated so shabbily that they would want to leave the service, no thanks to the system.

Even as final-year students, they are sent to hospitals and are kept on their toes for anything between 10 and 12 hours a day without a weekend off.

How do you expect them to study with the exams around the corner? Mind you, most students already decide to leave as soon as they graduate.

To make matters worse, the consultant comes in and verbally abuses those poor housemen who have been in the hospital for over 24 to 40 hours.

They are even called “stupid” and “donkey” in front of their patients!

It is really absurd to be made to work continuously in the most inhuman manner, depriving them of sleep and rest.

What irks me most is why aren’t housemen subjected to the same labour laws of the country as other civil servants – eight hours of work and overtime to be paid for on-call duty and a rest day in between calls?

Why is it so difficult for us to follow the foreign practice in which housemanship is for one year and subsequently, the houseman can decide whether he or she wants to continue or leave the service.

Come on, doctors need a life too!

Come on la makcik, get yourself a tv and watch ER, Grey's Anatomy, and all those dramas about doctor's life.

Incomplete..

Today is Friday and Monday is payday. Alamanda must be packed with ladies finishing their last bit of previous month's pay. Mr.Joe was late. It must be the jam. I waited patiently for almost 20mins observing all these ladies making their way to the Pasar Tani in between E2 and E3 plus some were waiting for their spouses or friends to fetch them.

Here we go,

From the top, nice tudung.

Fear of the Unknown..

Sangat2 terkejut tau bila tau yang PI and Tahnani nak kahwin hujung bulan nih.

Macam best jer...

Zaman mak2 kita dulu, memang kebanyakannye bercinta selepas berkahwin.

Zaman sekarang, bercinta bagai nak rak sampai bertahun2, jumpe 1 lelaki baru, tibe2 kawin selepas 3 bulan berkenalan. Ayat orang biasa, Dah namanya jodoh..
3 months and you suddenly decided to spend the rest of your life with him/her without having the extra longer time to risik? Tak takut ker?

During the 1st year, Mr.Joe and I had the best time of all. Able to see him only a couple of hours each month therefore every minute was spent with love. Then, DPA came. More time were spent together, the more we saw each other, the more we realised each other's flaws and amazingly, the more we fought. There were a few times when I felt that we were not suitable for each other but I had to at least give it a try to make it successful. And I think we did pass the getting-to-know-the-real-you stage and now we are adjusting ourselves with the new environment avoiding the dislikes of both parties. We hope and pray for the best of us..

As the marriage thing getting nearer each day, I've been getting a lot of:
Lepas kawin nanti nampak la perangai sebenar
Sebelum kahwin taik gigi pun rasa coklat
Masa bercinta janji nak buat kerja rumah sama2, lepas kahwin, kita penat buat kerja, suami tahu nak itu je bila malam menjelma.

Horror..

Tak, we all nak you bersedia yang marriage is not just about having fun. Most guys will change after marriage and the wife changes too because the husband is no longer the man she dated.

"20 things you should know about guys" stated in this magazine. one of it:
1. Romantic guys do not exist. Dont expect that your guy will surprise you with home-cooked-candle-light dinner for your anniversaries or birthdays. It only happens in Korean Drama and Hollywood Movies.

Guy to his gurl: See, most guys are like that. Why do u expect me to be different from our lot?

"20 things you should know about women"
1. Women like shopping. They can spend hours or the whole day at the shopping mall without having a slightest thought of you.

Gurl saying to the her guy: See, most women like shopping. Why cant you accept that this is our nature?

And the fight goes on and on and on defending the features of each gender refusing to change or be slightly different from the normal description instead of trying to adapt to the new environment... Haih..

Where do we stand..

I have been on the twitter for a week and earlier today, I sent out this tweet: “6A1s get PSD eng s’ship - 13, 14 A1s no s’ships: why our Cabinet Ministers allow such nonsense yr in yr out. Sack the whole useless lot!”
The never-ending story when it comes to PSD's scholarship. And so he has spoken.. Read more..

Hmm, my brother gets 10As and he didn't get the scholarship. He did quite good in his curriculum compare to those I know of that managed to get the scholarship. Therefore, I think it's more than just nerd looking kids with good grades when choosing a scholar.

I read the above entry and all those comments given below. Scary mary when they are thinking that way of you-know-what.. "Others" are thinking lowly of "us" and yet we are securing our place as champions of corruption, samseng jalanan, night clubbers, drug addicts/dealers, sex offences...

It's time to wake up people..

The betrayers.. (edited)

I post something like this on my FB,
UD41 shouldnt be applying for management work. Make yourself available at the hospital.

Then this friend of mine who will be doing her 5 year compulsory service at the govt hospital end of this year gave a remark that housemanship at Malaysia's Govt Hospital equals to SLAVERY. Then this other friend who is a PTD himself said that SLAVERY is for doctors who want to do management works.

If the ratio of doctor to patient become higher than 1:2000, our country may have to procure doctors. Seriously, we are procuring doctors now. "Buying" them in bulk from other country.

Shortage of doctors is happening all around the world. It is a critical post indeed. And Malaysia doesn't manage to produce enough doctors because of shortage of lecturers. It's like a cycle. Therefore we send them to study abroad. Sadly, not all came back to serve the country.

Who is to blame?
JPA? Because they are not stern enough to those who breach the contract? Charging minimal penalty which they can easily pay and butt off?
Or The Govt? for giving them such a low pay to G's MO therefore they are seduced to work in other countries? Or giving minimal medical charges to immigrants that causes the hospital loaded with them and extra workload to the doctors?

Well whatever it is, that's not the point. You have signed the contract. You agreed to serve the Go for 10 years when you have done with your degree but then you BETRAY the country by accepting other offers abroad.

How selfish is that?
You actually abandoned your team at your birth country. You used the people's money to reach your goals and yet, you served others. You are supposed to work hand in hand and share the burden together. Where's your loyalty??

I think the numbers are significant enough IF all those medical students came back to serve, the ratio won't be as ridiculous as 1:2000, the workload won't be that big and Malaysian doctors will be less bitter.

Would you agree that they are just damn selfish?

Food and Fat..

People get fat because they ate too much and did no exercise. (Excluding Mala..) Those skinny models are usually what they called size 0 because they ate salad for breakfast, for lunch and for dinner. Well, they ate nothing but salad.

I walked passed this slimming centre at Mines a few weeks ago. Man, that place was packed with people. Seeking for advises to join or not to join the centre to slim down the fat zones. By watching the advertisements, these places indirectly are telling people that you don't have to exercise or go through the hardway to get a better shape. I gawked the very 1st time I saw it. Seriously, boleh kurus sesenang itu ke?? Dari 70kg turun ke 50kg. Then I was telling myself I wanted to save my money and did a spot reduction. Gile obses kan.. That was before I had Mr.Joe in my life.

Anyway, joining the slimming centre isn't as easy as it looks. I have a friend who spent RM10K++ for the slimming programme. She was given medication or food supplement, needed to attend the session for massaging, sauna, slim-wrap and what nots plus the do's and dont's in eating habit. It is almost the same as reading a Trim, Trim, Trim Those Fat book. They'll teach you to eat healthily. Amazingly you managed to follow all those rules because you knew you have spent thousands of $$$ therefore you wanted to make it worth it.

Getting a good shape and maintaining it is all about discipline and how you withstand your yearning for food.. which many of us don't have...

Minute writing

Hands up for those who love to do minute writing?

None..

This is the task I hate most. And I hate it even more when I had to ask the members of the meeting to check on the particulars and they insisted on changing the Chairman's decision or the dateline of the task given during the meeting. So far, the Chairman didn't seem to remember what he decided during the last meeting and depend solely on the minutes.

True, everyone is afraid of the Chairman, but the dateline were given by you. If you think the dateline can't be achieved, then give a longer one. And if I published the minutes according to the Chairman's word without having the member the chance to amend it beforehand, they will blame me as if I wrote the wrong thing..haish..

I'm so glad the work has been taken over by person in charge..

Another 2 more meeting minutes to be done.. p(^^)q

Old am I?

The course I attended in Kuching was a blast. It became more interesting when some of the participants were the people I know, Ibrahim, Lawrence, Una, Lin, Nelbon, Razami. Nelbon said I am so chubby now and he kept mocking me when it was meal time. Whatever la Nelbon, you still have that big, protruding tummy.hee..

Going back to Kuching brings back old memory. I lived in Kuching for almost 2 years in year 1988 till 1989. Eventhough I was only 4 going 5 years old, I still remember some of the places like the airport, Seberkas, Sarawak Plaza, Pasar Satok, my Sinaran Kidergarten (where I once peed in the class), the banglo we lived at Jalan Batu Bata. I love Kuching..

Last minute picture.

Lin, Una n I taking a walk at WaterFront, Kuching

Anyway, going back to the office on Friday, I was greeted by a new PTD officer. She looks young and the bubbly type of girl. She approached me at my place for a proper introduction. When she..

The writing was interrupted by the alarm sound. Closed IE, packed my handbag and headed out. Only to be told that it was a false alarm. Someone in the library did something that triggered the alarm. Sia2 aku panic ingat ade gegaran seperti yang berlaku hujung tahun 2007.

Continued~

She introduced herself and so did I. N her next sentence,

Nak panggil ape eh? Kak Suraya?

I was speechless for a moment because never in my life someone suggested to call me that.

Seeing my blank face, she asked how old I am.

Baru 25 tau. Panggil nama jer. Nak panggil Su boleh, Yaya pun boleh.

You know what I did when she left? I checked my face at the mirror for wrinkles and the clothes I wore. Do I really looked old?

She graduated from a 4-year-degree course last year, she couldn't be younger than 23. Hell I am only 2 years older. Well, I noticed that she calls everyone by the name Kak except me. When she introduced herself to Lin last Monday, she addressed Lin as Kak too and Lin commented,

She smiled sheepishly telling she is 23 years old.

Anyway, I remember what Yati told me when I first came to this Dept,

If sama level 41 or lower, umur 40 tahun lebih je panggil Kak. Tapi itu pun tengok jugak, kadang2 orang tak suke. If selevel 41, umur lebih kurang, panggil nama je. If die announce herself as Kak, baru kite pun gune Kak.

Hmm, communication skills..

Not enough isn't it?

Alasan anak tak didaftar kelahiran sebab ayahnya pernah ditipu bahawa nak daftar lahir kena bayar RM500. Jadi ayahnya serik..

Kejam ke if saya kata, kalau kurang mampu, jangan la beranak banyak.. Yer, Rasulullah menyuruh umatnya beranak banyak supaya meramaikan umat. Tapi if nasib anak terumbang-ambing, tak ke sekolah, tak tahu 3M, bila besar stress lalu menjadi mat rempit, merompak, jadi GRO sebab tak tahu nak buat kerja lain, umat Islam yang macam inikah yang kita mahu?

And then, semalam berita pasal mat rempit, ditemuramah mat rempit ni punca dia merempit, dengan lancar dia kata, "sebab mak bapak. Kat rumah stress jadi kita merempit ar. Hilang stress sikit."

InsyaAllah..

Still have but toned down.. Yer right..

KUALA LUMPUR:

This year's Merdeka celebrations will be scaled down this year, said Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

He said this was because the celebrations coincided with Ramadan, which is expected to begin on Aug 22.

"It is to respect the fasting month. We will still have the Merdeka parade, but celebrations will be scaled down," he said after a dialogue with artistes and non-governmental bodies at the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) yesterday.

He said musical performances would be toned down, however, participation from NGOs would be encouraged.

"We hope to get as many of them involved in the celebrations."

Rais added he would hold a meeting with ministry officials at the end of the month to discuss the matter.

On another matter, Rais said that he was mulling a suggestion to form a corporation that would look into the music industry.

"We have Finas looking at the welfare of film-makers but we are looking at suggestions to have a separate body to look after our music industry."
Since Merdeka falls in the fasting month, why cant all those parades and performances substitute with solat terawikh peringkat kebangsaan plus solat hajat?

Ah, Mr. Joe will still be busy on the transport thing for the celebration.. Sigh
